Barbie, A History

My personification of “PunkRock Barbie”

punkrock barbie

In 1958, Barbie Millicent Roberts made her debut as a teenage model in a black and white striped swimsuit accompanied with sunglasses, high-heeled shoes, and gold-colored hoop earrings.

Additional clothing was based on the latest runway trends, with an average of 120 new outfits each year. Barbie was independent and showed little girls that they could be anything they could imagine.  The doll has been made in versions connected to over 125 different careers; evolving from model, to career woman, to president.
